A community dedicated to nurturing the creativity of skateboard photographers everywhere. Specifically, Jazzpush has two goals; to provide a breeding ground for the industry's up-and-coming photographers & to act as a source of inspiration through criticism and recognition; a community driven by honest feedback.
WTF is a Jazzpush?
A Jazzpush is a skateboard term from the mid-90s referring to when a skateboarder - accidentally or intentionally (Marc Johnson à la Yeah Right) - pushes off on the opposite side of the board with their back foot.
What can I find on Jazzpush?
Jazzpush is a community focused solely on skateboard photography. However, skateboard photographers shoot more than just enders. So while Jazzpush members are first and foremost skateboard photographers, they are encouraged to post whatever they feel others will find interesting.
Why is Jazzpush an invite only community?
We decided to make Jazzpush an invite only community to ensure that the quality of posts and feedback is high enough to be of use to our members. The community started small and is intentionally growing slowly through the personal networks of existing members.
What happened to the old site?
The original Jazzpush site (gallery & forum) was written entirely from scratch. As a reuslt, it was some-what slow and hard to maintain. It has been moved to a more maintainable, open source platform (Discourse).
Does it cost me anything to join?
Jazzpush has, and always will be entirely free. It does cost a small amount of money and time to keep things going, so if you would like to donate, toss us over a few bucks via paypal.
How do I get in?
Invitations are issued by our members and via direct requests. If you want to apply for an invite, feel free to drop us a request. Be sure to include any work you want us to take a look at, remember, quality not quantity!
